George Brett Game Used Bat Louisville Slugger Model S2

There look to be a few things wrong with this one...

Has anyone tried to clean pine tar from a bat before? I would imgaine it's tough to get the bat totally clean.

No, but I have tried to clean tar off my shoe before and let me tell you something that was a big stinking mess.

You can do it, I have to do it on a regular basis when a player sends in a bat and wants it spec'd. Kind of hard to get exact handle specs with the damn thing covered in pine tar. My other favorite is tape. They'll send in a bat and want it spec'd with the tape on it. I get it done, it's just a matter of taking your time.

"Yes, but a breathtaking depiction of the Crab Nebula on the knob!"

i believe the crab nebula is from storing the bat in a cheap bat tube and having the black cover heat up at some point or years of storage. the barrel of the bat is in direct contact with the cover, no sponge or foam between the two.

DON'T ASK how i know that!!!!

Why does the label look like it is too close to the barrel end? Is that an optical illusion?

Malta's book doesn't show Brett ever ordering any S2's (p70-71).
