Swoboda Jersey Obtained
As a game used collector and an old time Met and Swoboda fan I knew there was little chance that I could ever obtain his '69 jersey. Even if it did materialize it would be financially beyond my means. But being a member of this Forum has its benefits. And that is getting an email from the biggest and most important Met collector out there,Andy Fogel asking if I would be interested in a Swoboda '99 30th Anniversary old timers game used jersey. Well you know the answer and below is what Brandon Steiner would describe as,"An unbelievable piece".
In that May 2,1999 Old Timers game Swoboda hit two triples wearing what is the last jersey worn by him in a game at Shea Stadium. A photo from that day of the introductions:
Andy I believe still has many game used Met items for sale from his personal collection.

Re: Swoboda Jersey Obtained
Congrats Robert on the awesome pickup.
Andy has been a great resource for Mets items and have help tons of Mets collectors including myself obtain great pieces to add to your collection.
Someone coined the phase many years ago that Andy is the Fortunoff of Mets Memorablia, The Source.
Enjoy the jersey!

Re: Swoboda Jersey Obtained
The jersey is dynamite! Congrats!
I received what is probably my favorite GU item, my 85 Carter Home Jersey from Andy, and just agreed to buy a 77 Grote Home (his last Mets Jersey!)
I always tell the story, that the day Andy came to see my collection, I felt like the pope was coming to visit!
Best
Jessie

Re: Swoboda Jersey Obtained
Jessie,
Andy not only sells items he'd ready to part with,it also seems like he makes sure that they go to a proper home. When you can, do a thread with photos from your collection. Interesting collection theme catchers. . Good luck,
Robert
