Please take a shot a deciphering the writing on this bat!

This is my latest pick-up, a Barry Larkin C243 (with mistakenly placed MLB logo). Kind of odd, it has blue ink transfers and black ink transfers. Anyway, what's even odder is the writing on the end of the barrel (not the knob). Anybody want to take a stab at what it says?

That logo is meant to be there and is from a certain year. Might have been 99 or somewhere around there I think. I have a Dimitri Young bat just like that.

The MLB logos on LS bats were used from 1999-2001 I believe, and were as follows:

    99: Logo Outline Only
    00: Logo Filled In
    01: Logo Outline Only

If there are BOTH black (1999) and blue (2000) ink-transfers on the bat then it would've most-likely been used in the 1999 season and kept after the season to be used again in 2000.

    Kyle -

You are right that the logo was on the front of the barrel from 99-01, but I think that filled in vs. not filled in is insignificant in determining dates of use/production. Maybe I am wrong....Jeff has some useful information at his site regarding this topic:

Learning all the time! I had not seen the MLB logo on the front.

Also, Adam, as I'm sure you have realized, this is the bat we discussed.

Oh, trust me I've noticed hahah

When I talked to two different people, both said they couldn't make out the bottom writing. I thought I would be able to make it out once I got the bat, but that is a tough one.

I was under the impression at one time that the outline logo on the front was on all '99 bats, and then switched to the filled-in logo some time in 2000. Then I began seeing the outline logo on the front of bats that I know were made no earlier than 2001.

Does anyone know whether BMH has ever commented on this earthshaking controversy?
