Original Air Jordan Shoes
Air Jordan shoes seem to be a hot comody on ebay these days; the Original Air Jordan I from 1985 being the most coveted. These shoes have been reproduced in 1994 and also in 2000 I believe.
My question is- what do you think the Original Air Jordan (1985) would be worth autographed and authenticated by UDA?

I have no idea what they are worth, but you do understand, UDA would be authenticating the autograph only - The shoes them self would not be authenticated by Upper Deck Authenticated.

Re: Original Air Jordan Shoes
right on- only the autograph would be authenticated by UDA.
assuming the shoes ARE in fact authentic Im wondering what they would go for. It seems like they would be a desirable jordan item.

Re: Original Air Jordan Shoes
You can submit things to UDA for authentication?
Like if I went out and met McGwire at the mall and he signed a ball for me, I could send that in to UDA and they'd render an opinion?

no, you cannot submit things to upper deck- at least ive never heard that you can. I plan on getting an item signed at Michael Jordans basketball camp- each camper gets one autograph- all autographs are witnessed in person and authenticated by UDA on the spot. THe camp is expensive though- $15k

Upper Deck Authenticated authenticates items autographed in front of a member of their staff. They do not do 3rd party authentication.

Re: Original Air Jordan Shoes
I did some homework on the shoes in question and from the serial number they appear to be originals from 1985/1986. The first 2 digits denote the year manufactured.
I hope this helps!

Re: Original Air Jordan Shoes
Very interesting post about Air Jordans. I remember a few years back, 7 or so, seeing an ad in SCD when somebody in Japan or thereabouts were buying original Jordans at astronomical prices. I didn't believe it at the time, but I had a pair of the red and black on white. They were well worn and I think I got $75 for them. A friend of mine had the blue and black ones, and I think I got $450 for them. They were absolutely beaten up. There is a market for these shoes. There was also a report on either ESPN or in Sports Illustraded showing some of the rare Jordans that are worth upwards of $7,000-10,000. It was an interesting article to say the least. They had production runs and some of the shoes Nike made only a handful of. Maybe a bit off topic, but I thought it would be cool to share. Having MJ autograph these definitely adds to the collectability! -Scott
