They pass thru ebay now and again, always going for ridiculous money because of his link to the 84 Tigers...$200 plus.

Yea, he is a family friend of mine but hasn't had any left so I thought it would be cool to have one. I've been checking eBay but haven't ever seen one.

I live outside Detroit and collect bats of the guys who won WS with the Tigers. Been doing this for years. On RARE occasion, Nelson Simmons, Garbey, guys who were considered not everyday players bats appear on ebay. Amazingly each time the bats have went over $200. Reason is apparently others do the team thing too and these guys are tuff. If you find one, be prepared to pay, unfortunately...

Here is a good example: Today ends a Ray Oyler bat (65-68 label). He was a utility man on the Tigers, played on the championship team, and died unexpectantly in 1974. I have never seen his bats on ebay before, probably won't again. I have bid it up to $211 this morning wityh 11 hours to go and it still won't get it. Probably a $300+ bat. Will I pay it - no. But that is me. Guys that played on championship clubs, even for a cup of coffee, will garner a higher $$ value every time. Garbey is no different.

That is crazy, I've never even heard of Ray Oyler however, I was born in 86. I'm new to the hobby and I though it would be neat to have his bat since he was my old baseball trainer and now a family friend and I had expected maybe $100 tops. Guess I have to shell out a little more than I thought...Good luck w/ the Oyler maybe you'll get lucky and it'll end at your $211

It's beyond that. I bet the guy pays over $300 for it. Yea, it's scarce, but not worth what he is currently going to have to pay let alone more!!!

I think www.gamewornuniforms.com had some game used Garbey Tigers jerseys for sale. They don't update their site so you might have to email them to see if they're still available.
