Why the numbers 13 and 16 written on the cleats?
I collect Jay Bruce and Cincinnati Reds Minor League stuff

    Hi

I am not sure i know when he came back to New York number 13 was taken by a back up catcher, he left before the series and Jim got 13 back. Maybe he was 16 for a couple of games? The one true pic from the 1999 World Series shows him with these style cleats on.

    Hi

Whitey Ford Ha that's a good one, but seriously here is a picture of him hitting the last home run of the 1999 series

Notice the high nike swoosh on the shoes and that they are high tops as well. Most of his career he wore a low top shoe. I am assuming because of being the catcher and having to crouch down. Does anyone else have pictures from Game #4 ? surely someone right?

    Hi

This picture looks pretty good. I think its a match. Any other opinions? No Yankees fans? I find it hard to believe. Anyone else have any pics for the 1999 world series?

A couple of years ago the former Mrs Leyritz was selling Jims stuff on Ebay. She had listed a few items including a 1996 team signed game used World Series bat. She did not list any pics so I asked a few questions, "Was this bat used in the World Series?", "Does the bat show use?". She said yes to both. When the bat arrived un used and not a World Series bat I tried to email her to get my money back. She never replied. Not saying your cleats arent authentic, but just though I would share.

    Hi

Thanks for sharing the cleats came with a LOA from the former Mrs. Leyritz as well. The cleats look like they have been used alot and polished quite a bit. I don't know if Jim was partial to one set of cleats a year or used a new set every game like Jeter probaly does. Anyone have anything else?

    Thanks
    Jason

JCC I purchased a huge collection of Game Used Jim Leyritz cleats from his wife. I am not so sure of him mostly using low tops as all the ones I purchased were just like the one in the photo. Some were the exact same style, but Leyritz cleats even if a different model of Nike all looked close to each other.
