Mark McGwire 88 GU Auto Bat in Mastro Auction
How does this look to you guys? I can not clearly make out the 88" in the batch year on the knob. Any opinions.

The "8" indicates that it is 1988. In the 90s they went to two digits.

Re: Mark McGwire 88 GU Auto Bat in Mastro Auction
there isn't an "88". just an "8". i can see it clearly. as i understand it, in the 80s, rawlings just used a single digit to denote the year. they began using 2 digits in 1990+.
the "25" doesn't appear to be in mcgwire's usual penmanship.

I have a nice `88 Mac Gamer, see attached knob pic. I don`t like the writing, nor do I like what looks like an "added" #25 to the signature. Something about the "#" don`t look right, at least to me anyway...

Not a fan of the 25 or the lack of use.

I agree with 10thman. His bat is what I know to be Mac's handwriting. The bat on Mastro's writing looks to be the same penmanship as the Mac bat currently offered on EBAY. I don't like the way its written on the Mastro bat. 10thman's bat has the same writing that is consistant with McGwire.com's descriptions of how Mac bat characteristics match up.
