Need a little help on this 80s Clemson jersey

I picked this up from a guy on one of the Clemson message boards. He said he bought it in the 80s at one of the old Clemson surplus sales that they had every year (and stilol hold to this day). I'm hoping it was at least team issued as I'm pretty sure it isn't game worn. The numbers are absolutely perfect and smooth where you would think wear would make the mesh holes visible. The name letters are sewn on individually. Is the tag consistent with 84-87 Russell jerseys? I'm not even sure that they wore mesh jerseys back then. The earliest Tiger jersey I have is from 92 and it is the smoother nylon type. I have a 91 Cleveland Cavs jersey that is mesh though.

The tagging is consistent with early to mid 80s Russell. Does look minty, must be a Horace salesman sample....real nice looking.

I had considered the salesman sample as well as the few pics I have seen of this eras jerseys, the NOB looks different.
