    restore/clean wool baseball cap ???

I recently purchase three New Era 100% wool caps that were game used in the late '70s early '80s. They are in rough shape, both dirty and with bills that are mis-shapen. Does anyone know how to clean the caps without completely destroying the bills and also without the colors running together ? thanks for any thoughts.

Re: restore/clean wool baseball cap ???

I am not sure if this would work or not, but this is what came to mind when I read your post.

My local Wal Mart has cap holders for the washer. It is a plastic "frame" that the cap fits over with another plastic frame that snaps down over the top of the cap. It is shaped like a cap and will help retain the shape. I would buy one or two of these to use after washing.

I just asked my wife what she would do and she said to hand wash with Woolite, gently in the sink using cold water. She says always cold water with pure wool. Then after you wash them gently by hand, put them in the cap holders and let them air dry on a towel for a few days.

I hope this works for you.
