    A-Rod Makes Items Available

Own a piece of A-Rod's history
    04/03/2006 11:03 AM ET By Ben Platt / MLB.com

Opening Day for many fans is like a major holiday when the gift of baseball is presented to them on a gold platter surrounded by 30 different pennants, much like the World Series trophy. This Opening Day, one of the game's biggest stars is making a part of himself and his accomplishments available to fans everywhere.
2005 American League Most Valuable Player Alex Rodriguez, in conjunction with MLB.com, has made fully authenticated items signed by him available through MLB Auctions. Most items will be available at a fixed price -- which means the price you see is the price you pay. Fans will also be able to access the merchandise through Rodriguez's official web site AROD.com.
With the amount of so-called authentic merchandise floating around the internet, Rodriguez and his associates felt the only way to have his truly reliable and authenticated merchandise available for fans would be through MLB.com. Every autographed and game-used item in the MLB Authentication Program is authenticated by a Major League Baseball representative, who attends all approved autograph signings and witnesses the removal of all game-used items to be offered by Major League Baseball as part of the program. This way, fans know what is sold online is truly authentic and signed by the actual person.
The items are a must-have for both the baseball and especially the Rodriguez fan. Here is a listing of some of the items now available:
Alex Rodriguez autographed baseball inscribed "Alex Rodriguez 13" and signed on the sweet spot.
Alex Rodriguez autographed game-used ball inscribed "1500 Hit Game 8/19/03." Rodriguez signed a limited number of balls used in that historic game.
Alex Rodriguez autographed game-used base inscribed "400 HR Game 6/8/05"
Cal Ripken Jr. and Alex Rodriguez dual signed 16x20 photo collage. A-Rod partnered with Ripken and Ironclad Authentics on a limited-edition photo collage autographed by both of them. Ripken was Rodriguez's idol growing up and the two have become very close friends. (Item also available in 8x10).
Alex Rodriguez autographed 2005 All-Star Game baseball inscribed "2005 All Star 3B." A limited number are available.
Cal Ripken, Jr. and Alex Rodriguez dual autographed baseball. This is very rare due to the fact that the signatures are on the sweet spot of the ball.
Alex Rodriguez autographed game-used baseball inscribed "300th HR Game 4/2/03." A great piece of memorabilia from a memorable game.
Alex Rodriguez autographed game-used ball inscribed "400 HR Chase." This is a ball used during one of Rodriguez's at-bats as he chased career home run No. 400. This specially marked baseball was marked "2" to clearly identify what ball was in play at all times during his plate appearances on June 8, 2005 in Milwaukee.
Alex Rodriguez No. 13 autographed New York Yankees jersey. Rodriguez does not sign a lot of these jerseys so this is an item to look at. As the season goes on, there will be more unique items available for fans to bid on. But for now, taking a piece of Alex Rodriguez home with you just got a little bit easier.

Do you think these prices are reasonable?

    depends what you consider reasonable.

    1) Yes the prices are high
    2) Arod hardly ever does a public signing
    3) When arod does something public its usually some type of fundraiser or charity event to get his autograph which costs anywhere from $1000 to $4000
    5) Or you can stand outside of Yankee stadium all day hoping to catch him and beg and plead on your knees to get a free autograph

    So the choice is yours!!!
