I own this one it's a lithograph on canvas I believe it's something like 36 x 24 numbered #1 / 18 - I also own the same lithograph on acid free paper a misprint. The canvas one I have autographed by Straw)
Giclee is usually a reproduction of an original through a very expensive ink jet printing process.
Lithorgraph is usually a reproduction of the original through a plate process.
Usually now there will be a limited amount made in either case just like the baseball cards for example 1 - 100 / 1 - 20 / 1- 500.
When these limited numbers are made they are usually a slight variation the artist himself will do, which he might make limited numbers of - Example - they usually touch up each Giclee/Lithograph by painting them by hand - they may add an extra color in and numbr them.

That's really neat. Who was the artist? I would be interested in contacting him/her.
Thanks so much for the link. I wrote him, and I am waiting to hear back from him. His work is so good that I can't stop looking at it. Do you know how much his originals go for? I probably couldn't afford more than a 16 x 20.
I will be honest I do not know the exact dollars but I happened to be in his presence when I think someone was interested in a Marino or Farve Original painting and I think it was in the 1k or 2k range but I could be wrong I am just trying to go off memory from about a year and a half ago.
I will be honest if your looking for that original quality texture - His Lithographs on canvas are great they are just like the real thing.

Thanks for his honesty. I could probably do in the 1k range, but I don't imagine being able to afford much more than that. We'll see.
Thanks for all your help. It's great to know what's out there, so I can make the best decision about which artist to use. I am still blown away by Longordo's work, and am waiting for a price quote.
What do you mean, you "rep" for Stephen Holland? Are you a liaison of sorts? Do you work in the art business? I would be curious to know.
Andrew does sport art as part of his business and Holland is one of his offerings. http://www.allstarsart.com/ There is nothing to read into the word "rep". Am I missing something?

Joel - Thank you thank you thank you for that excellent Post.
We are an authorized representative art gallery and dealers for many artists of which Stephen Holland is one of them along with LeRoy Neiman, Charles Fazzino, Malcolm Farley, Opie Otterstad, Thomas Kinkade and many more.
Further we have produced some of our own exclusive editions. Art gives me the freedom I can't do with game used.
We have planned for the next 4 months 2 new exclusive offerings so when they are done I will Post back here.
It is very time consuming and many steps and hurdles to get an art project done with an athlete. League/team approval. Player approval. Player's association approval. Agent approval. Artists to choose for the project.
We are currently working on our first hockey edition now. It is quite the educational process as it is much different than NFL, NBA, and MLB.
This was a good thread. I really liked Graig Kreindler's art and emailed him and was surprised I didn't get a response from him.
By the way, I believe we have the largest inventory of Sports Art in the country. We had at one time a big wholesale operation until the economy tanked so we are back to doing strictly Retail until other opportunities come up.
