Re: OT - Sports Paintings & Illustrations
Hey guys,
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are looking forward to the start of 2012.
I think my New Years resolution is to get the majority of the unfinished paintings out of my studio (especially those that were commissioned).
Here are a few that are ready to leave...
Johnny Evers, 1907, 16" x 20"
Babe Ruth, 1918, 30" x 34"
Babe Ruth, 1924, 16" x 20"
Lou Gehrig, 1938, 18" x 24"
Jackie Robinson, August 28, 1949, 46" x 56"
Mets, October 25, 1986, 30" x 45"
And man, I never realized how much Evers looks like Stan Laurel in that image. What a jaw that man had!!
Anywho, I hope y'all dig 'em. And if ya do, come check me out on Facebook, too! Comments/crits/laughs/stories are ALWAYS appreciated.

Re: OT - Sports Paintings & Illustrations
Hey all,
Hope everyone's starting to enjoy some spring weather. In Brooklyn, it's REALLY starting to feel like baseball season is upon us.
I just got this guy back from the photographers, and I thought it was an interesting one to post:
Christy Mathewson, 1914 Cracker Jack, 18" x 24"
My client is a big fan of the Cracker Jack set and wanted Matty to be as real as possible. It posed an interesting challenge, since as much as I can render him, the background was just going to be that stark red. Though in the end, I'm pretty happy with the results. I think it's pretty strong graphically, and although the play of red and green really messed with my eyes while I was working on it, I think I was able to pull it off.
And I realized that there were a few more I had not posted here, so here they come!
Anywho, I hope you dig 'em! And if not, don't be afraid to say so!

Have not been on here in a while, but I have been working really hard on a lot of paintings and here is one of them. This painting was originally going to be donated to a charity auction that Aaron was attending but the charity organization backed out.

A gift from a friend.
This is too cool for words. Maybe I will set aside some GU funds and channel them into these paintings.
It would be even cooler if Jeter signs it. Will have to wait and see.
Now I might want to get one with MATSUI, so I can photo-matched it with the game used bat.

Wow. I truly love your work. I think the most amazing part is how you paint players as if it was the era they lived in. Seeing the Ruth makes you feel like it's the 1920's yet seeing the Rivera, it feels like 2000.
