    Tagging on 2005 Detroit Tigers Jerseys

    Hello,

    I have seen some 2005 Detroit Tigers jerseys with this in the tagging:

    Players Number - Size - Year - 026
    Players Number - Size - Year - 175

    I thought maybe it was a set number, but definately not that high. Is that some type of inventory number?

    Thanks for any help,

    Tom

    yes, the last number is an inventory number. I believe they just keep adding to that number as the season goes on & other players come up or other jerseys are ordered.

    Thanks a lot for the reply.

    The odd thing is the 175 is a ST home jersey (marked ST) that was then carried over to the regular season (all star patch).

    The 026 is a Road Jersey.

    Is there any difference between home and road numbering. Would an 026 likely be the first one issued to a player?

    Thanks

    My guess is you're right...the 026 is probably the players first of the season being such a low number. If the road & home both start w/ seperate inventory numbers or there combined together, I'm not sure.

    Yes the final digit is a team inventory number, but I'm not really sure what it means. Up until 2004, the Tigers would have tagging that was year-size-set-inventory #. They then switched to the style the use now with number-size-year-inventory #. I had to pull my Tigers jerseys to take a look at the tagging to see if I could figure out anything with the inventory number.

    home;
    2000 set 2 #216
    2004 set 1 #77
    2006 #213, 223, 225 (SB - shirt off back)
    2006 #309 (cool base)

    road;
    1994 set 1 #108
    2007 #323

    BP; (newer BP's have no tagging)
    1994 #23

    What does any of that mean, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe other will post since it would be hard to make any guesses based just on a few jerseys. Maybe someone could ask if they go to Tigers Fest or see if they notice any trends.

    Also I think that the Spring Training jerseys had the patches on them as well, so I am not sure if that would mean it was also used during the season or not.
