    Yount T141

There is an auction on ebay listing a Yount Game used T141 model bat. Vince Malta's book shows no such bat for Yount, not even a note for post-playing career shipments. Seller provided no definitive answer, only that it may have been from coaching career, or a "pro-model" (not sure what that means) bat used during his playing career. I would appreciate any insight to how/when these would have been provided to Yount.

    Thanks
    Matt

    Re: Yount T141

Hi Matt-- a few people have asked about this bat--- here's some info:

In checking Yount's records from his first order in 1974 thru 4/29/97, there are no documented orders of T141 during any label period, atall---not even from promo companies, etc. What there are however from 1993 forward, are orders from the Brewers for Yount signature model bats " Any Model ...34 inch (or 35 inch) -- no specified weight" threse would be bats that the Brewers would likely use for promotions , front office gifts, gifts, whatever... all were with no finish, and 99% were 34 inch ...the length is the main giveaway as Yount was a 35 inch guy 99 % of his career.

To your specific question, do a search on GUU forums for team index bats--- basically they are bats that teams ordered in a variety of models and dimensions for use throughout their organizations (majors, pitchers, minors, etc.) The team often had signatures of their star players who had H & B contracts placed on those bats--- I think one of Jim Caravello's expert corner blogs deals with this in depth as well, or at least one of his posts.

In the case of this bat, Yount was so consistent in his bat orders that a Yount T141 from the 1991-97 label period IF it was documented in his factory records, would be a truly rare Yount model. Without the support of factory records, however, one should critically examine the possibility that Yount would have ever personally used this bat.

    Hope this helps
