Former New York Yankees manager Joe Torre rips general manager Brian Cashman and third baseman Alex Rodriguez in an upcoming book, the New York Daily News and New York Post reported Sunday.
In the book "The Yankee Years," Torre says Cashman "betrayed him on several fronts," the Daily News reported, while Rodriguez was called "A-Fraud" by teammates, the New York Post reported.
The 477-page book is written by longtime Sports Illustrated reporter Tom Verducci and recounts Torre's Yankees career through interviews, the Post reported.

Torre left the Yankees after leading the team to four World Series crowns and signed a three-year, $13 million deal to manage the Los Angeles Dodgers in November 2007.
Torre has said in the past that Cashman support him in negotiations with Steinbrenner, although Torre was unhappy with the Yankees' final offer, a one-year deal which included incentives and a paycut from $7 million to $5 million.
Cashman said he never brought up Torre's request for a two-year contract, the book says.
Cashman declined comment on the book, ESPN reported, saying he didn't know the context of the comments.

Re: Torre Rips Arod/Cashman
Torre was just in the right place at the right time in New York. He never won anywhere else. They could have won without a manager those years.

It's always easier to talk smack after you leave. Seems to be common with many.

Re: Torre Rips Arod/Cashman
Wow.......Not much love coming from the "New York" members....
This reminds me of the Boston bashing of Manny.
HOW can you people slam Torre like this? The man managed your team to 4 World Series victories! And you slam him because he voices his feelings on how he felt he was mistreated in negotiations......only to have the real class of the organization come out by completely leaving him off the "invite" list while all the Yankee Stadium celebrations were done with the closing of "The House That Ruth Built". Tha man is as much of Yankee Royalty as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, or Derek Jeter.....what's wrong with you people?
Talk about believing "your own exhaust"......

Re: Torre Rips Arod/Cashman
I remember that argument (Torre's words himself that he probably wouldn't have been able to make it anyways).....but how do you argue with the fact that he wasn't even mentioned, or a picture shown of him during the whole celebration?
I don't buy it. The Yankees showed the true colors of their ownership and mangement. They have true heritage and history, and are one of the most decorated teams in MLB history for more than one reason.......but the current group running the Yankees is a vindictive grudge-holding bunch that really turns on ANYONE that doesn't follow their ways.
And in regards to whomever being able to manage that team to 4 World Series victories.....Couldn't we say that about ANY World Championship team? If they are so loaded with talent, it's an argument any of us could make.......so I don't buy that either.
