Shea Stadium Dumpster-Seats Anyone?
From Baseball Fever.com:
http://www.baseball-fever.com/index.php
Hit the Ballparks,Stadiums and Green Diamonds thread. Then click onto the Shea Stadium Demolition topic. On the lastest pages is current photos of the Stadium along with gameused/stadium items in the dumpster. seatbacks, that would have been affordable to the casual fan are now as I expected,in the garbage or strewn along the floor.

Re: Shea Stadium Dumpster-Seats Anyone?
They had a pile of them lying around last Saturday in the parking lot about 6 feet away from the fence:

Robert,
I love that thread as well as the Citifield construction photos one.
That's a great forum and the Shea Demo site has a lot of dedicated Mets fans who thru photos like these have documented the entire demo progress for us.
I've said it in the past but it's a shame all those seats and other items which MeiGray had a whole 2 weeks to get out of Shea are destined to be thrown away.
I think they should just toss them over the fence during a predetermined time and we all go there like hungry seals scoffing them up!metsbats86@aol.com
Always looking for 1973,1986,1988,1999,2000,2006 game used Mets post season and Bobby M. Jones and Ed Hearn NY Mets game used bats.

Re: Shea Stadium Dumpster-Seats Anyone?
I wouldn't assume that, just because they've been tossed into those industrial-sized dumpsters for now, that they're headed for a landfill. I mean, what else would they put that many of those things in, for storage and transport? I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet that somewhere along the line, every one of those seats is going to enter the marketplace; I strongly suspect that it's already a done deal, but even if it isn't, some enterprising soul in the food chain will do a Mel Fisher.

I strongly suggest they're all going to the dump because aside from literarlly having been thrown in the dumpster,if you notice, there is also many imbedded into the ground ,having been run over by the tractor.

Re: Shea Stadium Dumpster-Seats Anyone?
just to give you the other side of the story. i was part of the demolition of cleveland municipal stadium back in 1996/97. there are certain ways that the contract is written that only so many seats/bricks/etc.. are sold to the public. the rest have to scrapped/recycled. there are some serious fines (6 figures) that can be levied if you do not comply.
take care

Re: Shea Stadium Dumpster-Seats Anyone?
I hope that when they take down Yankee Stadium they do it a nice way like blowing it up or piece by piece.
