Re: How many bats in your collection?
Suave, you should put all of your bats in a Microsoft Excel program. It makes it way way easier to see what you have and the descriptions.
I have all of my bats in the program. First column is the players name, then year, make, model, cracked?, #on knob, sig/block, All-star?, HOF'er? Each in their own column. Then I put them in order by the click of a button. Looks good and really comes in handy when you are wondering what you have or if someone is inquiring about one of your bats!
Plus, its a fun way to see what you have.

Re: How many bats in your collection? (Red Sox)
About 460 Red Sox bats, approximately 390 different players. Trying to get a bat from each non-pitcher who had an at bat for the sox from 1960 to the present. Need 19 to complete the collection and getting pressure on the home front to stop at 2010 to make it a half century collection.
Mariners Bats, your racks look hauntingly familiar to my own, were did you get the idea for them? They allow for great storage of a large collection with access. I have a few thoughts on ceiling display if you are not joking.
If any of you have a collection of old H&B/AD bats from the 60s and 70s I am on the hunt for some really obscure guys, including Ray Webster, Willie Tasby, George Smith, Ken Poulsen, Syd O'Brien, Roman Mejias, Felix Mantilla, Marty Keough, Ron Jackson, Bobby Heise, Chuck Goggin, Don Gile, Carmen Fanzone, Bob Didier, Marlan Coughtry and Luis Alvarado.
Thanks!
Jeff

Re: How many bats in your collection? (Red Sox)
The idea came from the wood peg garage tool racks that used to be sold at Home Depot. I couldn't find them anymore so I started making my own. It is extremely inexpensive and was actually fun!
I am serious about ideas for the ceiling. I have found a few options that would work but are cost prohibitive. I do not want to spend $150 to display 5 bats on my ceiling. As we speak I am completely out of room on my walls and either have to move into my arcade or utilize the ceiling.
I would love to hear your ideas about the ceiling!
Oh and having spent 12 years trying to put together a Mariners run I am speechless about the run you have put together!!
Thanks!

Re: How many bats in your collection?
Mariners Gamers, flat ceiling or vaulted. If vaulted I always thought that using 1x4s to make an L along the base of the ceiling to act as a pocket and then running a thin slat about 30 inches above would work. For a flat ceiling I would consider making boxes of 1x4s spaced 36 inches apart and then use thin slats to hold the bats up inside the box. The key is to make sure the boxes are scrwed into studs or they will all fall tragically! Let me know if that makes any sense.
