Re: Anyone win anything from last nights Mears auction?

Not Mears, but I just participated in my first Hunt auctions, the online auction that ended Wednesday night, and came out of it with the gold 2002 Bob Brenly National League All-Star Game Workout Day/Home Run Derby jersey that I was lusting after, and a ton of game-worn Team USA items from Daniel Perales, Mark Rosen (I must have been bidding against his mother!) and Sergio Santos.

Neither is Santos - not since '05. They were at one time, though, and that's all I really care about.

I wouldn't have paid for Perales' stuff what I did for Rosen's; in fact the $110 I paid for the Perales uniforms was also my high bid for that lot.

I picked up these Walter Davis game worn shoes. They'll go great with my Suns Walter Davis jersey.

I won the Bobby Bonds All star game nameplate. I was bidding on two other items (juan gonzalez helmet and piazza batting gloves) but wasn't willing to spend the money...waiting for them to have a nice Thomas item for sale in a future auction to blow my credit on

I got the Ed Mathews H&B "Spline" bat and the Blasingame bat. I've wanted one of the Spline bats in my collection for a while. I've really enjoyed the items and customer service of the MEARS auctions.

I'm assuming they didn't post the wrong photo in the Rosen auction, since the caption refers to "23 Rosen" being on a number of items...oh, and I just remembered - you can see "ROSEN" written in the waistband of the white pants!

Looks like Rosen isn't in the DBacks organization any longer, either - I thought he'd spent the entire season in '08 with double-A Mobile, but apparently he signed, in June, with the Independent League York Revolution, where he was a teammate of...so that's what happened to Shea Hillenbrand.

Speaking of York, that would be a good autographing destination for you Orioles fans, and I know there's at least one of you out there - the Revolution's manager is Chris Hoiles, and their pitching coach is Tippy Martinez.
