All-Pine Tar team
With my ever growing addiction to game used items covered in pine tar. I starting to think of a team that would be the all pine tar team.
C-Jorge Posada
1B-Doug Mientkiewicz
2B-Craig Biggio, Dustin Pedroia
SS-Orlando Cabrera
3rd-George Brett
OF-Manny Ramirez
OF-Vladimir Guerrero
OF-???
any input?

Re: All-Pine Tar team
I'd pick Mark Grace over Doug Mientkiewicz.

When I saw the thread title, my first thought was Grace.

Re: All-Pine Tar team
I don't know how Posada could possibly use more pine tar than Johnny Estrada. I bought a couple of his gamers in '06 that were just filthy, and they haven't dried a bit to this day.

Re: All-Pine Tar team
Great idea. Ive got a bat from Orlando Cabrera and it is caked with pine tar. I dont know if you've ever done this but I have a UV flashlight and when the light shines on the pine tar on the bat it turns green. Kind of cool to see.
Who else cakes on the pine tar besides who you have listed?
Have you seen Orlando Cabrera's batting helmet on eBay....

Re: All-Pine Tar team
Love this thread -- the best bats show the most use in my mind!
Anyhow, it is interesting to me that catchers often have the filthiest bats. While I agree with Posada's bats as being very pine tar heavy, I could argue Jason Larue to be heavier on the tar. I have four of his -- each is ridiculously heavy on tar and one has grass still stuck to it.
For OF -- Luis Gonzalez is always heavy on tar. His bats typically show tremendous tar & use.
