OT: Madoff Citifield tickets sold on Ebay

    http://money.cnn.com/2009/04/12/news...ion=2009041211

I thought you couldn't sell ticket on ebay above face value?

These $500 pair of tickets went for $7,500.

They normally don't do anything about it. I have sold numerous tickets on Ebay that have gone well over the face value.

Good to know next time I need to scalp some ticket too.

Getting busted on ebay for scalping would be the least of Bernies' problems anyway.

    Thanks

But he paid $60,000 for them. So there really not over ticket value.

    David,

Do the rules of being a "ticket broker" apply to ebay? Having that license entitles tickets to be sold well above face value so maybe it voids any of ebay's rules. I will be honest though, I'm not sure of ebay's policies on the resale of tickets. I do agree with the previous statement that any rules regarding resale are most likely not enforced.

I believe $7500 was just for the two opening day tickets. The 60K was for the season plan. They plan on auctioning off more tickets from the plan in the future.

(Unless I' m reading it wrong)

    Mark,

I thought it did. In NYS at least. I remember seeing the rules in some auctions where the amount cannot exceed face value. I'm sure ebay is not in a hurry to enforce a rule if it existed as it will eat into their cut.
