I recently acquired a second Bonilla L/S S318 this one from his Pittsburg days. I have one from the Mets. I quickly noticed the difference in length between the two same models. Pittsburg 33 3/4 and New York 34 7/8 inches. Why the difference in the same model and if so why go to a heavier bat later in your career?

Re: Bobby Bonilla L/S S318 Question
Models are about the shape of the bat, nothing more. You can order any of our models for Pro use from 33in-36in. I'll go to 32in but that technically changes the model to much to keep it proportional. Weight is only governed when it weighs less than it's length. MLB rules say a bat cannot weigh less than 3.5oz under it's length. Going above the length is only governed by how heavy a billet you can form the bat from.Brian HillerichComment
