this lid was recently listed on ebay as a "san francisco 49ers early 1960s game used helmet" - unfortunately for the poor soul that plunked down $500+, it's nothing more than an average reproduction...

the niners used this style of helmet for two years, 1960 & 1961 - but the listed helmet is an early 1970s suspension helmet, not an early 1960s suspension helmet. moreover it's fitted with vinyl red stripes instead of early '60s painted red stripes...

below, the helmet on the left is the $500 ebay reproduction, the center helmet belongs to guu member barry-debi and it's an authentic gem and the helmet on the right is featured at helmet hut, another authentic game used used gem.
