Question for anyone with broken bats used between July-September 2008
As all of you know, MLB had that study with all broken bats used between July until the end of the season. I currently own 7 bats used during this time period and SIX of them had custom tape jobs that were on the handle REMOVED. All are MLB authenticated (as should all broken bats from this study) and each had some type of tape job that was on the handle or knob removed. I'm not sure if this was done for the study or if the team was just smoking crack. If you have a bat from the broken bat study last year, then please let me know if yours has any tape removed like on mine.

I'm pretty sure it was done because of the study. I have a Soriano bat photo matched to August 5-6 and the tape on the handle has been removed.

Kinsler has known to both tape and not tape but looks as if these 3 bats may have tape jobs removed... all '08 MLB authenticated.

I have seen a number of Pudge Rodriguez bats with the handle tape removed as well.

Our bats must be from the study then. Mine have that same blue tape that is on your Kinsler's and mine also have that white sticker on the barrel (like on the first Kinsler). The stickers on the bats I have say something like "ATL-157" or "ARI-121". I know the first three letters go with where the bat was broken, but do you have any idea of what the 3 digits mean?kylehess941@hotmail.com

The number might be the game in which it was broken. Just a guess though.

I have a Yankees Richie Sexson Game Used Bat that matches all your bats used for the study with the MLB Hologram and tape removed with tape/sticker on the end of the barrell - (But it is not broken at all)
