Detroit Tigers Jersey Question
I've been looking at some Tigers gamers from 2007 sourced directly from their Authentics department. My question is in regards to their tagging. There is the standard strip tagging on the jerseys but clubhouse manager Jim Schmakel has initialed the Majestic tagging "JS" and added a "G" to the extreme right of the tagging. Does this have some specific meaning? Any help would be appreciated! Attached is a picture.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Detroit Tigers Jersey Question
Affirmative, Dale...I have a 1999 Tony Clark gamer with both these notations on the Russell tag. In the 1980 and 90s, before the Tigers became game-used friendly, these markings, especially the JS, were done to separate legitimately released jerseys from those that walked out the back door. The Tigers actually sent employees to card shows in those years to confiscate jerseys they deemed to be stolen (and the presence or absence of the JS on the tag was the key).
