I like how everyone is dressed up except for Lampson.

That should say "I didn't know if anyone else had seen them."

      Stupid no editing.

I thought those were pretty good and interesting videos.

Being fairly new to the whole game used thing, I thought it was interesting that Lampson (who everybody constantly talks about how worthless his authentication is) was the only one who actually admitted that he makes mistakes. He made excuses for it, but they certainly were believable excuses. Where the Mears & PSA/DNA representatives basically said that they never make any significant mistakes.

Not super informative, but interesting nonetheless. Thanks!

Perhaps a boom mic for Mr. Taube, next time.

i found these to be very interesting to watch, especially the part where dave bushing answear's the question on post 1987 jersey's. that member's here have been trying to get to the bottom of what that a-5 designation really mean's? quote: dealing with post 1987 if you don't have provenance, that is just absolutely impeccable "IT'S NOTHING TO ME BUT A PRO-STOCK SHIRT THAT THEY MAKE BY THE MILLION'S" isn't this the point to having mears authenticate a jersey without provenance. a post 1987 a-5 to help insure that what you are purchasing is an authentic game used/issued jersey to the player in question and not a jersey produced for signing's like uda/foot locker etc. with proper tagging and no neck tagging? maybe the new title for a a-5 designation from mear's should read instead of "FINAL GRADE WITH RESPECT TO CHARACTERISTIC'S AND GAME USE" to: 'IT'S NOTHING TO ME, BUT A PRO-STOCK SHIRT THAT THEY MADE MILLION'S OF" since they don't make million's of jersey's worn by player's in a game. isn't this a-5 designation a hindrance and a mean's to confuse the common collector out of there money on a 1 in a million chance or how ever many were actually issued to any one player that particuler year in a million chance? why give the illusion that your post 1987 jersey with the highest grade possible with out provenance a-5 is probably legit? just wondering!!!!!!

Scott-thanks. I enjoyed listening to those. Good to see a face and voice with those names. I've done a lot of business with Taube, so that was cool.

All of these authenticators are simply collectors who have a lot of knowledge about what they collect. I think the term "expert" is thrown around too easily. When you refer to yourself as an "expert", there will always be someone waiting in the wings to shoot you down. Taube and Bushing make themselves available to questions from collectors. Lampson seems like a good guy, but he shouldn't duck fellow collectors. He should join this forum and start admitting some mistakes. There is no doubt that Lampson has tons of knowledge, but there is no way he knows about every sport and every team from every season. It's a fun hobby until it's called an industry and collectors start losing money.
