    Andrew, Rudy, and others

Any comments and/or opinions on these two Hamilton jerseys? Thanks.

With those dirt markings it would be interesting to photomatch it.

I find this odd as there are more of these Josh Hamiltion jerseys out there:

    BB574147 was used on 08/21/07, BB574152 was used on 08/22/07, BB574154 on 8/23/07, BB574161 on 8/24/07, BB574164 on 8/25/07

    Re: Andrew, Rudy, and others

According to the MLB database, they were all game used but not autographed. I see that BB574147 and BB574152 are both autographed with the same inscription. BB574147 in last year's GUU fall auction had a tampered Majestic tag and an altered size tag(?). It was questionable and returned to the consignor. Does that mean if you are not buying, bidding, and receiving the item directly from MLB.com, you are taking a chance on a MLB authenticated item even it has the MLB hologram?

If BB574147 had issues such as the above, then BB574152 is very likely to have the same red flags as well because they look very much the same. What about BB574154, BB574161, and BB574164....

Why authenticate five Hamilton jerseys in five nights? He wasn't about to break any record back in August of 2007. I believe casual fans didn't get to know about Hamilton until the Homerun Derby in 2008.

This should be easy. This jersey was tagged as used on 8/22/07 With all that dirt, you should be able to see if towards the end of the game he had that much dirt on the jersey. If so, it probably gives credibility that these were all 1 game jerseys that were provided by someone close to Hamilton. Still doesn't explain why the one on the GUU Auction looked altered.

I have also learned that authenticators use their own roll of holograms so these patterns of numbers (close in sequence) probably means it is the same authenticator doing all these jerseys.

There is still a possibility that the holograms never affixed and were moved from one jersey to another.

Again, if someone has access to the game film from 8/22/07, please take some screen shots for us.

Caught stealing in the bottom of the 8th. Was it a head-first slide? If so, the jersey should show a lot more dirt than pictured.

Hamilton's name did not appear on the box score. Did he play at all? Or incorrect database?

    MLB Authentication Program
Major League Baseball uses a third party authenticator at each and every game, who witnesses all items that received a signature or that were removed from the field. Every item, once witnessed, will receive a sequentially numbered, tamper-proof hologram created by OpSec, U.S. to easily identify its Major League Baseball authenticity.
    Who authenticates the authenticator?

An example of the 2007 Cincinnati Reds game used home jersey with the "Property of Cincinnati Reds 2007" tag. Not sure if the cool base jerseys had these tags or not.

I don't think the Reds Cool Base jerseys from 2007 had the "Property of" tagging. I have a Cool Base alternate from 2007 which came right from the team that is not tagged. I'm pretty sure the 2008 Cool Base jerseys with the Nuxy patch do have the "Property of" tagging though.
