    Question on 1981 Pirates Jersey

    Hi -
Looking for some feedback on the Pirates jerseys. Does anyone have any information on the manufacture DESCENTE? I have not come across this maker before. Did they provide other team jerseys? Were all early Pirates jerseys made by this company. Also, looking for info on what jerseys the Pirates wore between 1977 and 1983. I know they at times had 4-5 different combinations.

    Thanks

Re: Question on 1981 Pirates Jersey

    Pirates suppliers:

Home white with bumblebee pinstripes (1977-79) Descente
Home white, no stripes (1980-83) Rawlings

    Yellow: 1977=Rawlings, 1978-83=Wilson

Black (knit and mesh) 1977-83 Descente

Descente is a Japanese manufacturer that also made Orioles home whites in 1981-82.

Jerseys pre-1979 above had no NOBs. NOBs were added to all styles in 1979 per National League regulations.

    Hope this helps.

Dave, you're a riot. RJB44 wouldn't have been able to get that much accurate priceless information if he had been locked in a room with a T-1 line to a loaded computer, and with an open phone line equipped with free calling to the entire U.S.

And that's nothing against RJB.....it's all about YOU, Dave.

It's nice to have you around this forum. Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge!

      Regards,

      Steve
