    Question Gil Hodges

Does anyone know if Hodges ever ordered a 34" K55 model bat?

Hi Bill--A review of Hodges' H & B records from 5-5-1947 through 3-24-1972, it Hodges use of Model K55 was brief and short-lived. K55 models accounted for his first seven orders, between the dates of 5-5-1947 and 1-30-1948. All orders were 35 inches in length and weighed between 33 and 35 oz.

Hodges' H & B models used throughout his pro career after Jan 1948 were limited to H178 and S2, all at 35 inches, with the exception of a single order of 34 inch R46 bats on 7-18-1956.

So Mike, given this info would a 34" inch Hodges K55 be a team index bat or a bat ordered by another player?

    Thanks
