    Real Deal or Fake

Two items I came across on Ebay that intrigued me. I'm a huge Packer fan, and am looking all over for recent GU items. Both are very nice, just not sure if they are real or fake. Please share your thoughts, or have dealt with this seller thank you.

    Re: Real Deal or Fake

The items all look pretty crisp to me. I prefer a football jersey to be torn up (and not autographed). Could be a pro-cut, or from the team, just for the autographs. The hat is even harder yet since there is nothing to distinguish a sideline hat from one you can buy at the mall. Hopefully there are some football guys that can shed more light on it.

That sideline hat should have some type of player identifier marked on the inside. I'd ask the seller to disclose this info.

If there is no identifier, or he has no idea what you are talking about, chances are this is just a hat from Dick's Sporting Goods, with a good auto.

Here's what I found on the Green jersey......
    Green Bay Packers

In 2000, Green was traded along with a fifth round draft pick to the Green Bay Packers for Fred Vinson and a sixth round pick. Since then, he was selected to the NFL Pro Bowl every year from 2001 to 2005 and has broken several franchise records. From the time he joined the Packers in 2000 up through the end of the 2004 season, Green gained more yards from scrimmage (9,036) and rushing yards (6,848) than any other NFL player. In 2003, he had his best year as a professional and set the Green Bay franchise record by running for 1,883 yards in the regular season. He threw a touchdown pass on October 17, 2004 vs. the Detroit Lions.[1] Green is also one of two players in NFL history to have two touchdown runs of 90 or more yards (Bo Jackson is the other). Despite his injury-shortened 2005 season, the Packers re-signed Green to a one-year, $2 million contract, with an extra $3 million in incentives. After the 2006 season he became a free agent, and was traded to Houston.

How can that jersey be GAME WORN if he was a Packer in 2002?

    I'd say JUNK!

I'm not saying the jersey is game worn, but did you ever think that the jersey could be a rollover shell?

There are no scuffs on the jersey, which makes me wonder. And does the "02" on the jersey mean the jersey is from 2002?

Yes, the '02-54' tag means that it was issued in '02. Could it be a recycled shell, sure, but I would have to see the Font, and the front of the jersey a little closer. The Texans jerseys have changed styles since the days of David Carr.

On that note, a jersey that was rolled over 6-7 years seems like a stretch. I would think that in the course of that time they would of used up a 54, or whatever size that is, since it is a common size for lineman, etc. If it was an '06, or an '07, I would be a little more comfortable with it, but an '02.....

54 seems too big for Ahman, plus RB's I would think wear smaller jerseys than their actual size, so it's extra tight. It's getting a few bids though, but after thinking about it I don't think it sold me.

    My thoughts?

It was an appearance jersey. The Texans have a tendency, from what I've seen, to rollover these 2002 shells for use during special jersey cermonies, such as a jersey when the player is announced to the media or in the case of rookies, the NFL Rookie Premiere. My guess without seeing the jersey in person is that this jersey would have been used by Green when introduced to the media. This is just a guess, and is not based on any available imagery/information specific to Green.

I agree that the jersey's use appears minimal in the photos that are listed in the auction, which leads me to believe the above conclusion.
