Grey Flannel Auction Lot #51-jordan Unc Shorts
Current offering, lot #51 in the recent Grey Flannel auction:
http://www.greyflannelauctions.com/L...25&category=51
Michael Jordan wore a pair of UNC practice shorts underneath his uniform for the Bulls and Wizards as a way of holding on to his connection to UNC. In the back waistband of each pair of shorts is the “Champion” manufacturer’s size XL tag. On the front left leg of each pair of shorts is the “UNC XL” logo in white screen print. The shorts show wear and appear to have no alterations of any kind.
__________________________________________________ _______________
Based on the photos and description, how can these be attributed specifically to being worn by Jordan, as opposed to being a generic pair of UNC worn shorts?
Any insight is appreciated.

Re: Grey Flannel Auction Lot #51-jordan Unc Shorts
Please note the lot description:
Lot #51: Two Pair of Michael Jordan University of North Carolina Practice Worn Shorts (2)
With an opening bid of $250. combined with the description, in my opinion the bidder is led to believe these are worn by Jordan.

Re: Grey Flannel Auction Lot #51-jordan Unc Shorts
I sent a e-mail to Grey Flannel and they replay to me with this msg:
"
Hello Alberto. The shorts were indeed worn by MJ while at the University of North Carolina. I hope this helps.

Re: Grey Flannel Auction Lot #51-jordan Unc Shorts
Alberto-
I'm confused. Grey Flannel is offering 2 pairs of generic, well worn UNC shorts, void of any type of identification either screened on the exterior of these (i.e., 23 screened on a leg, etc.) or written on the waistband as "game worn by MJ"????? " The lot description makes no mention of any type of LOA from Jordan, the University or similar person(s).
Can you follow-up with Ms. Flavia and ask her how they are attributing these to Jordan, besides simply including their LOA to the winner?
Looking forward to a replay!

Howard, msg sent...and quickly response arrived :
""
Hey Alberto. They are actually accompanied by a LOA which was given to our consignor with the shorts which states "Please be advised that the 2 pair of UNC practice shorts given to you as a gift from the Jordan family were worn by my brother Michael during his playing days at UNC...Your Friend Larry Jordan."
Impeccable Provenance. I hope this helps, be well.
Thank You,

Re: Grey Flannel Auction Lot #51-jordan Unc Shorts
I'm not confused at all.
Can't you tell from their detailed explanation what the truth is, Howard?
To me, it's crystal clear. It's all about an "opinion". The truth......well, that will have to be left for the winning bidder to search out, but as long as he's/she's comfortable with these fine used shorts, powerized to pull the trigger with the fine explanation set forth......who cares, right?
To me, these kinds of responses to legitimate questions brought about by collectors fall just a tad short of the mark......so to speak. Frankly, I'm so bored with the same-old same-old from this company, that I would like to state my public thanks for their freezing my bidding privilages.
Of course, I'm missing out on all of the beautiful pieces of amazing memorabilia I could be bidding on ......but in the infamous words of Annette Bening in the entertaining movie "The American President".....
"I'll just have to live with the disappointment".
(all comments stated above are an opinion, and is in no way meant to defame or libel any involved party.)

Re: Grey Flannel Auction Lot #51-jordan Unc Shorts
So......Why wouldn't this info have been happily given out on the first request? Because if that's true, that would boost the possibility of getting some serious change for these shorts from a true M.J. fan??
Is this letter from "Larry Jordan" signed by him? Or is this just a printed letter that could have come from anyone? Just curious....
You know, this is a seriously good example of how handling your customer relations can define your company and it's success. A little more enthusiasm up front when a serious question is received from a potential bidder can work wonders to build a better relationship with your clients.
I mean, am I missing something here?????

Anyone else think a 40-42 would have fallen off a college Jordan?
