Most unusual events you have ever seen at a live sports event.

Over dinner last night, my friends and I, who are all big sports fans, were talking and sharing sports stories over dinner. The discussion turned to unusual incidents at sports games, since my friend had been to the Cubs game when Shane Victorino had the beer porn on him. I'd like to hear some of your stories, and I'll add a few of my own.

    1) During a Blackhawks game I attended some years ago, the power in the stadium went out and stayed out for some time.

    2) During another Hawks game, this time vs. the Predators, Boris Mironov dumped the puck into the Preds zone, so that the Hawks could make a line change. Tomas Vokoun went behind the net, expecting the puck to stay along the glass. The puck insted deflected off the divider on the glass, and went straight into the net for a goal. I just started laughing, and even the announcer sounded confused.

And probably my favorite, I went to the 2006 Crown Royal 400, and had a blast, and during that race Kevin Lepage's car had an engine problem, and caught fire, thus ending the event for him. I've since purchased the driver's side door from that car! I will post a photo.

I seen a fan at an Oakland A's game catch foul balls on consecutive pitches. They were both fouled straight back into the second deck. I think the odds of that happening have to be pretty high.

Game at Yankee Stadium where some knucklehead kid jumped from the top tier, landing in the netting between home plate and the 1st baseline. Had the netting given way, he could have easily killed someone and perhaps himself.

My wife and I were directly behind home plate, a few rows back. We literally had a front row seat.

In the mid 80's at The Swamp in Gainesville, the Gators were playing Kentucky. I heard a plane approaching and thought it was one of those planes that trails an advertising banner behind it. All of a sudden, a WWII plane appears over the south end of the stadium, flies into the stadium, and then out over the north end zone. Scared the bejeezus out of me and about 85,000 other people. If I remember correctly, they tracked the plane back to Ocala and eventually took away his pilot's license.

HA! I was at that Yankee game where the kid fell onto the screen too. Too many $9 beers.

I saw Chris Morris break a backboard at the Meadowlands.

I saw Dock Ellis hit the first three Reds batters and throw at and behind the fourth and fifth, until he himself was thrown out of the game. I don't expect to see that again.

I was at an Islanders game a few years back when a guy spent a ton of money to propose to his girlfriend. He contacted the team, had the Jumbotron read "Our first date was at an Islanders game Will you marry me at this one" It was was an aww, that's romantic moment. The camera was turned to him on the Jumbotron, everyone is watching as he gets down on one knee......She laughs at him, says no and walks out of the stadium. I heard second hand (as this was waaaaaay more interesting than a late 90's Islanders game and everyone was talking about it) that she dumped him and had been cheating on him.

I figured she was just looking for a Rangers fan.

I was at the Browns game when the ref threw the flag that hit Orlando Brown in the eye. It was strange because at the game nobody could really tell how bad it was and just saw Brown go after the ref and attack him.

    dfirest1,

Um......I certainly don't want to derail your nice fun post, or cause you any grief......but that door you purchased doesn't match up with the car in the fire. The only reason I'm pointing this out to you is so that you may take it up with whomever you bought it from if they represented this door as "the" one from "the" burning race car in the picture.

Look at the numbers and how they lay out with the white racing stripe coming off the bottom of the car (touches your "1", doesn't come close to the one on the car on fire)......the silver racing stripe and how it touches the top of the number one on the car on fire (and yours, where they don't touch at all).....or the little shield below the "1" (it's to the right of center on the fire car....to the left of center on the door you bought).

At least you have a nice door from a race car of his......just not the driver's side door from the car that burned. Sorry to break it to you, and I hope it doesn't take away any of your excitement about the piece. It shouldn't, your piece is still nice.

    My best regards,

    Steve

Steve, when your right, your right! I didn't notice until after I had put the post on the site.
