I thought these MacGregor Sandknit tags were mid to late 80s-not early 80's. Can anybody pin it down when these tags were first used on football jerseys? Thanks for the help.

Re: Joe Ferguson Bills Tagging question??
I'm not a football guy, so here's some NBA Sandknit tagging. The Ferguson tagging matches my Adrian Dantley 87-88 Pistons jerseys-and Fergy was long gone from the Bills by this time.
The Larry Bird tagging is early to mid 80s Sandknit tagging. LMK if football should match bball.
Thanks.Attached Files -
Re: Joe Ferguson Bills Tagging question??
As far as hoops go, I think 87 was the first year for the Sand-Knit crown. The Sixers had different SK tagging for 86-87.Greg

Re: Joe Ferguson Bills Tagging question??
Yea, that's weird. Joe's last year with the Bills was 1984. The jersey looks good except for the tagging. Joe would cut the end of his sleeves off and he usually had the hand warmer pockets and he wore a size 44. This one's got me baffled. Any football experts, please chirp in.Comment

Re: Joe Ferguson Bills Tagging question??
Does this jersey have an interior care tag?
Can you please post a picture of that?
Sand-Knit put a code some years on the interior tag that will tell you what year the jersey was made.
Images of both sides of the interior tag may help with telling what year this jersey was made.Comment

Greg:
The Ferguson tag designs are from no earlier than 1987.

Re: Joe Ferguson Bills Tagging question??
Dave is right. 1984 would be "Medalist" Sand-Knit, not MacGregor. 1985 was the transition year. I thought 1988 was the first year for the crown tag...still don't know for sure.Comment
