    Post Wade Boggs Bat

I have a bat that I found at my grandpa's house after he died. He was a baseball fan but not a collector. The bat has Wade Boggs's signature engraved in it, and it's a Louisville Slugger. I don't think it could possibly be like the bats he uses in games because I'm not that lucky and there is no pine tar on it, but would like to hear some others' opinions.

I was referred to this site and heard you guys could help. Thanks.

The presence of the "flame tempered" would make this a store model bat.

There should be a number stamped on the knob.

Thank you. On the knob is a "3" denoting it's a 33 inch bat. Just a question, but normally, what would replace the "Flame Tempered"?

The word "Powerized" is found instead.

Louisville slugger pro model bats do not have anything stamped on the knob from 1976-2008. Pre 76 bats have model numbers typically a letter followed a single or series of digits (ex M110, K55). Store model bats have the single digit like the Boggs which signifies bat length.

Starting in 2009 Louisville started stamping date information on bat knobs.

In addition to what Jaime stated some player pro model bats can be stamped "Air Dried" and on bats made around 2004 "Select Maple".

To add onto the additional stamping that can be found on some bats, The wording "Pro Beech" can be also be found on some bats.

I assume that this was added when LVS experimented with the use of beech wood in bat production

I once had an Adam Dunn "Pro Beech" model bat and then traded it to Andrew Lang.
I collect Jay Bruce and Cincinnati Reds Minor League stuff
