    Batting Helmet Codes?

Has anyone figured out how to decipher the coding on ABC helmets? My example is a pie figure. 3 (maybe 4) dots on the 6, 3 dots on the 7, 1 dot on the 8 and 0 dots on the 9. Would appreciate any help.

    Re: Batting Helmet Codes?

1988 makes sense considering the era of the collection I am buying. Can you specify in detail what you mean by the quarters? 1 dot on the 8 means 1988? Thank you for taking the time to respond.

    Re: Batting Helmet Codes?

I'm going by memory here, abc changed that code a couple different times....I believe in th 90's they actually had the year on....since there is only 3 (maybe 4, the six was hard to tell) dots in a number, is basically states the month period it was manufactured. You always go to the latest number w/ a dot since its the latest year...if its a 4 dot code...one dot would mean january thru march...second dot april thru june....

I know i'm confusing typing....but since theres only 1 dot in 8, I believe it would be made in jan-march period.

I like the modern codes better with the arrow and the two numbers . Thank you again for your time and help. Greatly appreciated.

    ABC Helmet Experts

I checked the Eductional thread, but didn't see anything about this. I also remember seeing a similiar question being posed, but don't remember if it answered my question. So, here it goes.

Is there anyone who has knowledge of ABC dating that pre-dates the clock-wheel, time stamp? I have a helmet that has the circle stamp separated into four quadrants. The upper left has a "6," and the upper right has a "7." Lower left has an "8," and the lower right has a "9."

The "6" section has three dots stamped, and the "7" has one dot stamped.

Can anyone please advise the manufactured date of this helmet?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

    Kind Regards,

    Ron.

    Re: ABC Helmet Experts

post a pic. from all the helmets i have owned and own, ABC did away with the pie wheel sometime between 89-90. i have seen helmets issued for the 90 season with the new date wheel, but ABC was still embossed on the back.

Thanks for offering to help. I tried to take some pictures of the wheel, but they didn't turn out so great. I'll post a pic when I finally get a decent one.

    Kind Regards,

    Ron.

I was finally able to get a decent pic of the wheel. Hope it shows up okay. Thank you, momen55, and anyone else, who can help identify the date of this helmet.

    Kind Regards,
