For this item at this price,I would ask the seller where he obtained it. There are three small white side by side markings, above "Powerized",that look much like plaster. I would ask about that because they look raised but maybe are clete marks depressed? There appears to be more marks on the bat,if serious ask for photos. There are a couple of bat experts on this Forum that are very nice about inquires especially for this kind of item. I wouldn't purchase it unless you feel comfortable about it. Ask if period ball marks are that bright or light in color and about the weight of the bat for Rose during those years.

I had the same question. Also, does it match factory records, and did Rose have a pro stock model (S2, perhaps)?

If someone on this forum can help with that info I'd sure appreciate it.

    Thanks.

He states it has no seam marks, and the ball marks look really fresh for being from 1964.

I've got about 20 game bats from the 60s and 70s that show strong use and none of them have nice white ball marks comparable to the depicted bat.

Rose's personal H & B records show That model S2 was the only H & B model he ordered during the 1965-68 labeling period. Lengths were 34.5 inches, 35 inches, and (95% of the time) 36 inches. Almost all orders were wide grain specified, and either a Natural or Flame Burned finish (except 2 orders of No Finish thast were unique). Virtually every order of the approximately 41 orders during this period (approximately 360 bats) were requested to be shipped with the weight marked on the knob. The weight marked on the knob of the subject bat is 34 1/2 oz. That weight is specific to only two orders of model S2 bats shipped to Rose during this period -- and both of those orders were 35 inches in length. There were five orders of 36 inch / 34 oz bats shipped in mid-1967.

Thanks Mike! The bat didn't sell on ebay, but your info, and the suspect white "ball marks" have made me lose all interest in making an offer on it.

The info you provide is extremely helpful; thanks again!
