Opening Day, 1993, a 20-something woman threw back a Greg Maddux foul ball at Wrigley Field during the Cubs-Braves opener in protest of Maddux leaving the Cubs to sign with Atlanta in the offseason. She became a local celebrity for about a week, did radio interviews, and got her 15 minutes most assuredly. I caught 3 baseballs in BP that day, so I tracked her down and sent her one as a replacement. She called me and asked me to come by her season seats so she could buy me a beer. The minute I mentioned my wife, though, the attitude turned stone cold. Needless to say, that was the last I heard from/of her, which is good...I wasn't gonna get the missus upset by visiting her mano-a-womano and have her hit on me (maybe).
