Mazzilli Gamer
I 've been looking for a Mazzilli Met gamer for a while and noticed this item on ebay. Does a size 40 appear to big for Mazzilli in 1979? They did wear things tight back then. 22 inches across the chest I would think is too wide. Any thoughts?

Re: Mazzilli Gamer
From reading past posts on game used jerseys in which the size appears off from what the player would normally use, could this be a "saleman's copy"?
Again, not to say that size 40 in 1979 is wrong, but believe he wore things trim fitting then and was thinner.

Re: Mazzilli Gamer
Thirty years ago, a Mazzilli Mets road gamer was let loose in Chicago after the 1979 season, which ended up with me for a short time, and it was a 40...maybe the same item?

sox83cubs84-,Do the photos look like your former jersey? 1979,sort of early in the G/U hobby. How did you acquire it back then? Why did you move it (if you don't mind)?

Re: Mazzilli Gamer
I bought it from a fellow collector who hung out at Wrigley Field. I found out later that year that the three Mets road jerseys that this guy had (Maz, Kranepool and Torre) were heisted by the Cannonball truck (the company that picked up the visiting team's equipment as they were leaving town) in an inside job. By then I had already dealt it away, so there wasn't much I felt I could do. Can't remember just what I got for it at the time, but I've seen all three of these gamers pop up once or twice in the intervening three decades.

Re: Mazzilli Gamer
There are some serious games being played with this auction. 33 bids in under a single day, and the item having only been bid up to a grand total of only $52.00? And one bidder who is apparently not an amateur accounting for 30 of them by bumping this by a dollar at a time? Clearly being manipulated, and not giving me a very good feeling.

Re: Mazzilli Gamer
Ok don't get me wrong I know Mazilli is a fan favorite / semi star.
But he had 1 all star year and he was a member of the 86 World Series team.
Not a hall of famer by any stretch.
The bidding seems a bit odd 8 days 7 hours left and it's at $405.00
That is just a bit odd to me.
Do you think it's possible this is a New York or Mets fan base bidding this up this high, so soon?

Re: Mazzilli Gamer
I'd have a long answer and a short answer to this question. I'll give you the short answer...
No
As far as I know, the Mets fans here at GUU that I have spoken to about this jersey are not bidding and do not plan to due to the very shady bidding that has already taken place over the first day and a half.Looking for ...
