A's Pitcher Loaiza in excess of 120 MPH

Report: A's Loaiza arrested for DUI, reckless driving

OAKLAND -- Oakland A's pitcher Esteban Loaiza was arrested on DUI charges early Wednesday after driving his Ferrari in excess of 120 mph, the Oakland Tribune reported.
Loaiza, 34, was pulled over about 3:30 a.m. on northbound Highway 238 near San Lorenzo when he was stopped, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Loaiza was arrested for reckless driving and driving under the influence when he failed a Breathalyzer test, CHP Officer Mike Wright said. Loaiza still was scheduled to start the series finale Thursday against the Seattle Mariners.
Loaiza, who signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the A's in November, spent the night at North County Jail and likely will face steep fines and probation because of the combined charges, Wright said.
"He is very fortunate nobody got hurt,'' Wright said.
A's assistant general manager David Forst said the A's are aware of the incident but declined to comment further.
The 10-year veteran signed with Oakland as a free agent after playing in 2005 with the Washington Nationals.

Bad, bad combination there. However, if you are going to get pulled over in a Ferrari, at least make it worth your while. What did the police use to catch up to him to pull him over a Porche 911 Carrera?

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought he threw a pitch 120 mph!

I thought the same thing about the 120 mph pitch. Maybe with a little "Clear" rather than a little bubbly, he could.

I remember when Estaban was a rookie and they tried marketing him using the first name "Steve". For some reason it didn't stick.
