Help with a Big Mac Card's bat..

Any way this bat is a legit gamer. It's a Blue Chip Sports bat. I know from personal experience they have good stuff and bad. They don't list the dimensions. No factory date on knob. Let me know Cards experts. Thanks.

I see a factory date. Looks like it has "98"

You can see the numbers better when you darken the photo:

Might be a legit bat (tough to say from photos), but no way it was used by Mac. Characteristics aren't even close.

I don't know much about Big Mac bats-but didn't he put the pinetar in the middle of the bat when he was with the Cards?

Here's what the pine tar pattern on a legit Mac bat should look like...

good find on the stampings...I have looked at this point and I thought there was no codes stamped on it. Very little chance this was used in a game.

I have gone through hundreds if not thousands of pics of Mac and for the most part he has a very consistent use of tar. I have found two pics where no pinetar can be seen at all. One was in a game, I guess it is possible that Mac cracked a bat... and maybe got a bat in the middle of the plate apparence that he did not have game ready. But 99.9% of the time he has pine tar applied to the handle and the mid section.

The other photo I have is one where he is leaving an indoor batting cage with a bat that has no pine tar applied. It is possible that he used this bat but I would not feel confident buying a Mac without the pine tar as Jeff has detailed.

Did all Mac Cards bats have a red ring? The bat in question looks like a dark blue or black.

3-4 years ago I found this Pic of Mcgwire using a green ringed Bat, in 1998. Notice the Tar pattern? 4-5 Years ago I saw a Green ringed Gamer that looked good, I shoulda bought it.

I believe this photo is from 1997 actually. When Mcgwire first came to stl from oakland he did use some green ringed rawlings. After that it was all cardinal red.
