    Attention Thome Collectors

The nicest Thome card I've ever seen.

There's a similar Milledge card of one of those with the starting price over 100. Way too much for that.

It looks like it is from a game issued bat. Most all game used bats have nice scuffing and wear on the bottom. That looks like it never saw the field.

The sticker auto is horrid. In any effort to make things easier for the company, they have decided to use stickers that are hardly aesthetically pleasing. Is this the best that card companies can offer?

And that is one of the reasons I shifted my collecting from cards to full game used items... A tacky ugly sticker and a small piece of the bat. Usually the bat barrel cards which is basically just the name plate sell for more than a whole bat.

People who buy game-used cards often give the rationale that they are easier to store/display than the whole bat or jersey.

How much do you think the card will go for? Just wondering

It's from 2009 Topps Unique. If you get the right buyers, that card will hit $300+... most of the other Bat Knobs have and it's a 1/1 card.

I pulled a Mariano Rivera AU/GU MLB Logo Patch 1/1 out of a box of unique and just threw it on the 'Bay on a whim for $750 BIN or Best Offer. It didn't last 3 hours and was sold for $750.00.

I do cards and memorabilia, but agree that I can't see paying for a card the same amount that could net me a whole jersey, etc...

                - Chris

PS - I just sold on SCF (Sports Card Forum) from this same set a Ryan Howard AU/GU Button #2/6 and a Tim Lincecum GU JUMBO Patch card #16/20 for $250 and a 2007 UD SPx Jeter AU (BV $150).

I can only assume that some card collectors have no idea that they can actually have the actual bat for around that price. Oh well, some learn, and some just stay with cards.
