    Twins jersey tagging

I have noticed that there have been a few Twins jerseys for sale recently without the year & set tag. I have been collecting Twins jerseys for years and all of the jerseys I see have the proper tagging. What are your thoughts on these?

    Hi Bryan,

I honestly wouldn't touch any of those jerseys with a ten foot pole with money attached. It has been my experience, as I assume yours that Twins jerseys have year and set paper fiber tags (at least up until the current Majestic jerseys which are cloth). All the Twins jerseys that I have owned have all had paper fiber tagging similar to the attached image of the tagging on my 2004 Torii Hunter Road Jersey.

I've yet to see a jersey without this tagging that I could really feel comfortable with. However, if any of these jerseys came with an LOA from the Twins it would be a different story.

I just noticed that the Historic Auctions' Molitor jersey has the wrong sleeve patch on it. It is a home jersey that has the road patch on the sleeve. The home jerseys had the "TC" patch on the sleeve. I guess the authenticator overlooked that fact.

Maybe you should call them and tell them of your findings. If you can prove it to them, maybe you can save someone some money.

    Re: Twins jersey tagging

    Hello,
I can only comment on the Molitor Twins jerseys and would be wary. I have collected Molitor Twins equipment since he first joined the team for the 1996 season. Every Molitor Twins jersey I have purchased not only has the tagging (1997 was on the collar), but also has an alteration tag as well. He has an added length of 2" to his sleeves. I by no means question the these auction houses, but would love to see the provenance on these jerseys. Just be careful. Best of luck!!!

Seems Twins jersey experts might know this question. In the 1997 season they started using the blue alternate, but they also had a Red alternate jersey. I was told they only used the Red jerseys twice. Anybody own or know what happened to them and why they dropped them so quickly? I thought they looked really cool.

Not sure the story behind the red jerseys but I have been looking for one for 3 years and have only seen one for sale. It was a common player. I was the first loser in the bidding on ebay.

The Twins dropped those red Dairy Queen jerseys because of superstition. They were absolutely killed each and every time they wore them, so the red variation jerseys didn't enjoy a long life...only a few games.

Red makes you hungry. They probably ate too many sunflower seeds and they all got upset stomachs!
