    Question about Auction Houses

    Question about Auction Houses

What makes an auction house so desireable where so many collector are willing to pay big dollars for items than elsewhere? Do collectors trust auction houses over other places?

I was looking at closed auctions on AmericanMemorablia.com, as was surprise by some of the prices for Arod items.

    Re: Question about Auction Houses

Sometimes hammer prices are not necessarily a sale - for ANY auction house. This happens in the card market on a consistent basis, so I would imagine that it would/could/does happen in the game used market.

On the other hand, I know of a handful of card collectors that ONLY buy from auction houses - these guys don't have the time for eBay or message boards.

    Re: Question about Auction Houses

I know some guy here buy from auction houses and say stay away from places like ebay. It seems that the mindset is, if it's being sold by a well-know auction house, it's got to be good and worth pay much more for it.
