BMH - I am curious what the "V" stamp stands for under the knob of this bat

    Hello BMH!

I just picked up this game issued Dustin Ackley LVS S318 M9 bat that shows a manufacture date and length and weight but also a "V" stamped under the knob. I was told that this was one of his first game issued bats for the AZ Fall League. Is that true? Does the "V" stand for the #5? (Which was his number for the AFL)?

There was a previous thread which questioned an "A" stamped on a pro-model bat which Brian revealed it mean the bat was made from Amish maple.

I wonder if "V" means it was made from Vermont maple?

Stands for Vacuum dried. We have wood being sent to a drier that can do large quantities so we stamp them with a "V". The wood we send to the Amish to be dried gets stamped with an "A". That was we know the source and can check for production issues if something happens.
