    Pete Rose bat question

Does anyone know if Pete used an LS 125 stamped S2 bat between 80-83? I always thought he preferred Mizuno in 1981 to the end of his career, but have also heard he used other bats as well. The S2 seems to be a bat he used early in his career. The item also is 34", which may be an inch longer than those he used during the early 80's ... or so I have heard.

    Thanks in advance.

Neal, I am not certain on this particular one, but I have Rose GU LVS from 80-82 Phillies era that is an R211 model.

      Re: Pete Rose bat question

Re: Rose H & B orders in 1980-83 labeling period---Between 1/14/1980 and 12/6/1983, Rose primarily ordered model R211 bats measuring 34.5 and 35 inches in length, with one order at 33.5 inches. Two orders of model S2 (1 bat each order) were invoiced to BB Promotions and BB Miscellaneous, each 34 inches with a specified weight (32 oz) and natural finish, thus presumed to be for Rose's personal professional use. No model S2 bats are documented in his order records for 1983-85 label period.

From 1986 through 1997numerous orders of S2 promotional bats are documented to a variety of entities, including B & G Promotions, ISON Sports Marketing, and Pete Rose Enterprises.

If you are looking for a characteristic Rose H & B bat from the 1980-83 period, it would be the R211 which was first manufactured for Rose off of an Adirondack model 129A on 8/16/1979.
