BMH: Some help regarding "STUMPY" bats
Brian,
Robin Ventura sometimes used a shorter bat that contained "STUMPY" on the barrel rather than his block name or signature.
I have been looking for a stumpy model to add to my collection for a long time but haven't found one yet. I know 3 other collectors that have one and none of them are looking to give theirs up.
My question to you... can you please find out for me how many of these bats are in existence? I want to know how good/bad my chances are of actually landing one.
Thanks a lot

Re: BMH: Some help regarding "STUMPY" bats
Hard to say...
What I do is look up the player's name on our system and it runs a list of everything ordered under that name. It will show me the basics such as name, model, finish, weight, length, who ordered it and what team. Looking at the actual ticket is hard since we archive tickets within two years. So if there are special notes on the ticket to say put "Stumpy" instead of the players name I can't see it.
With that said, I did type in Stumpy and got one order.
4/15/99, 24ea. Ash, P72, Hickory, 33/31, New York Mets.
Just typing in his name shows several orders for 33in bats but I can not tell you if they were labeled Stumpy or not.Brian Hillerich
