Help with a Pete Rose Bat

Any thoughts on this bat? I haven't seen this tape pattern on a rose bat, typicall some tape in middle of bat or 5 or six rings of tape. The sanded barrel is a plus, but for some reason the tape worries me.

I'm no expert, but the 14 on the knob
is a lot different then mine.

I believe the bat is legit. Pete would differ his taping of those Mizunos. Pete's #14 is never the same. I have had many Rose bats and his 14 is written differently on most of them. Plus, if you were going to fake his bat, why tape it like that? You'd at least put the rings and tape the center wouldn't you? Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input, I was thinking the same thing about the tape. Although you would think it would be a lot easier to photo match, Thanks

I have heard that Pete did not put "14" on Mizunos, at least not all of them. Any truth/opinon on that?

Not true, there are a bunch of pics with Rose using
a Mizuno with a number on top and handle of bat.
His bat passing Cobb doesn't have 14 on bat

When I was trying to photo match or at least style match my Rose bat I found very few pics on the normal online sites but found by searching old magazines and posters as well as books there were more pics available. This site has quite a few older pics and he even printed one for me for a small charge and emailed it to me. Check here http://www.thatsmyboy03.com/index.htm

Some of his Mizunos had 14 on the knob-some didn't.

I am a little leery of this bat. I have never seen a Rose bat taped like this one, and the 14 on the knob doesn't look quite right.

Re: Help with a Pete Rose Bat

I would definitely prefer a Pete Rose Mizuno bat with 14 written on the knob. A bat with 14 written on the knob and barrel end would be even better.

JT has a Rose Mizuno bat on his site with a different tape pattern, but a similar 14 on the knob.

In my opinion, the 14's are not too similar.

The 14 on the Taube bat looks better to me although Rose may have written it sometime after he stopped using the bat -- if he ever used the bat at all.

In my opinion, the $4799 asking price for the Taube bat is at least twice what it's worth.
