    MLB Auctions-Beltran

I bought this exact same Beltran Helmet with the exact same description a few months ago. Does anyone know if the Mets have a history of doing this? How many helmets did Beltran wear in the last game of the year?

    Mulligans,

I think you might have misread this one. The description for the helmet states that it was worn during the 2009 season and collected after the October 2, 2009. Often the date supplied when MLB authenticates the item is the date in which the item is collected and documented but might not be the actual date worn. In the case of helmets, they were probably worn for a fair few games before such an event.

As per your original question -- the number of helmets I would have expected Beltran to use in a single game is 2, as he is a switch hitter and may have hit from both sides of the plate in the same game (helmet flaps would be reversed). I would also check a photo site like Getty, video, or even the box score of the game for helmet style during a specific game (the Mets wear 3 different) and to determine if he did in fact hit from both sides of the plate in the game.

i think it is more of a case of the mets just turning over their remaining 2009 stuff to mlb for authentication when the season ended. there is a alot of mets 10-2 authenticated stuff on the market noway it was all used in that particular game.
