The rubber piece that some batters wear on there finger while batting. What is this called??

When John Olerud was playing for the mariners I asked him when he was in the cage down in Arizona what it was and called. He called it a "prohitter"

That is correct.
It's called a "pro hitter" and it helps keep the bat from falling into the palms. It gives hitters a better feel and keeps the handle of the bat off the palm-side of the knuckles. It also prevents some sting on the hands.

I have a couple of these still in the package from the 80's, and they were labeled in the package as Direct Protect, made by the Pro Hitter corporation in NY, NY
