    Question Interesting Maris picture

This may not be as unusual as I believe it is...perhaps that bat gurus on this site can chime in. I noticed an interesting Roger Maris 8x10 Yankees phot, now closed on eBay (360271973942...anyone who can cut and paste and/or link this, I would be most appreciative). Maris is swinging a bat with the knob visible. However, rather than bearing his Yankees uniform # (9), the writing on the knob is his initials (RM) with a short underline beneath it.

O great bat gurus...is the RM a normal or frequent knob notation of Maris' Yankee bats, or have I stumbled across something unusual. Inquiring minds (including me) want to know.

I've seen shots of the Rajah with his last name of "Maris" underlined on the knob...(Street & Smith cover perhaps?)
