Re: What's so special about this type of bat?
Looks like two guys both decided they really wanted a McCutchen NOW, so they're in a bidding war. I sold a nice burgundy Marucci McCutchen for about $200 last year on ebay...and I thought I did well.Comment

Re: What's so special about this type of bat?
Ya... this auction is odd to me as well. I've seen beautifully beaten and signed bats by mccutchen go for 2-300. I have no idea what is up with this one. Maybe it is rare and we're all dumb for not knowing any better... someone should ask bmh about the bat order. Maybe we could all learn something.Comment

Almost 4 bills? That guy is overpaying. I would be happy selling mine at the $175 mark.Comment

Re: What's so special about this type of bat?
Something is fishy about the bidder that has 406 feedback. Either that or he is a moron. There have been several bat auctions recently where he has ran up the price of the bat within the first 24 to 48 hours of the auction. Even stranger is the fact that it was a bidding war between that guy and the guy with 4390 feedback. The guy with 4390 feedback has bid on almost every single bat I have saved in eBay including every one by the seller except the Hairston Jr.Russell Wuerffel

Sometimes, somebody just wants a bat or bats. I don't see anything fishy about it.Comment

Re: What's so special about this type of bat?
Here is one of the other examples. He bid a bunch early and then stopped bidding at the end. There was another bat he did it with and won because there were no late bids to outbid him. It might not necessarily be fishy, but I don't see a lot of reason in running up a 5 day auction on day one. The bat he won has no feedback left for the sellerRussell Wuerffel

Re: What's so special about this type of bat?
The only thing I see that raises a red flag to me is the seller. This guy has tons of big name player bats from this year and no real way to authenticate the bats. I could be wrong, but for me something doesn't seem right.Comment

In one of the other threads the Chase Headley bat he has looks to be a photomatch to a 7/6 game. Not sure how he gets them all.Russell Wuerffel

Re: What's so special about this type of bat?
are you saying that the guy has more than one name? then bids up the items he sells to get more money...? and is too dumb to cover his tracks by leaving feedback for the transaction? I think this is more common than we think on ebay.Comment

Re: What's so special about this type of bat?
I don't necessarily think that is what is happening because two of the example items that were bid on are from two different sellers. He does bid a bunch early and runs up the price and doesn't bid at the end of the auction. It is either a ploy to raise prices or a really bad bidding strategy for someone who wants the bat. I agree though I have seen it happen many times where someone had two accounts and used one to run up the other prices in auctions.Russell Wuerffel
